Report of the Committee on Pricing of Irrigation Water

Abstract

There has been widespread concern about the large and growing magnitude of losses on irrigation projects. A need has been felt to examine in depth the existing mechanism of water pricing, its level and structure, modalities of improving the recovery of dues, the norms of maintenance and other related issues. It was against this background that the Planning Commission constituted the Committee on Pricing of Irrigation Water in October 1991.
