Abstract

During the First Five Year Plan, the major problem tackled was the Organization of the Department of Agriculture, while during the Second Five Year Plan, particular emphasis was laid on development of horticulture and a beginning was also made with soil conservation measures on agricultural lands in Bhakra Catchment Area. The main task under the Third Five Year Flan is to consolidate the gains already made and to carry further the process, which, was started under the first two Flans, to make the economy of the Pradesh self-reliant and self-generating.
