Abstract
Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a small Union territory near the western coast, situated about 110 miles north of Bombay and hounded to the Bulsar and Thana Districts of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The territory comprises 72 villages, three of which constitute the separate pocket of Badra which is separated from the major part of the Union territory to a small strip of Gujarat territory. The average rainfall varies between 2500 and 5000 mm. and the whole area enjoys a moderate climate throughout the year. The topography of the territory is hilly and undulating except in a few areas in the northern and eastern parts of the territory, as a result of which the cultivable land tends to be available in patches rather than in large compact blocks.
