dc.description.abstractAndhra Pradesh is the fourth largest state in the country covering 275.04 lakh hectares and representing 8.37% of the country's area. Sustainable growth in Agriculture sector is the "need of the hour" not only for the State of Andhra Pradesh but also for the Country as a whole. It is the bed rock of the State's economy. Out of the total population of the State about 70% live in rural areas making their livelihood from Agriculture and allied activities. It is a major source of income to the State's economy. Two important rivers of India, Godavari, and Krishna, flow through the State providing irrigation. Andhra Pradesh is the most progressive State with respect of agriculture development, maintaining high levels of crop production compared to several other States.
