Abstract
In the new environment of liberalised economic administration, growth in the production of tradable goods can be induced by adequate infrastructure especially availability of power. Location decisions for manufacturing industries are known to be influenced by the availability of uninterrupted power and other infrastructure; rather than any other factor. A quickened pace of growth of manufacturing, farming and indeed of any economic activity in the State can be ensured only by investing adequately in the electricity supply industry as well as in other energy industries. the changed role of the public sector in the new environment is of concentrating energies on infrastructure, economic and social, especially development of the electricity supply industry. In addition, private sector has now been permitted by law to enter this industry.
