dc.description.abstractAt the first meeting of the Planning Committee for Transport, held on July 2, 1953, it was decided that the Joint Technical Group should undertake, along with other studies, the analysis of the present and future patterns of movement of selected commodities so as help in the formulation of the Fourth and Fifth Plans in the transport sector. The following 15 commodities were selected for the study:- 1. Coal 2. Iron & Steel 3. Cement 4. Wron Ore 5. Limestone 6. Mineral Oils 7. Manganese Ore 8. Fertilisers 9. Salt 10. Foodgrains. 11. Sugar 12. Raw Jute 13. Raw Cotton 14. Tea 15. Timber and Timber products
