After forty years of experimentation and experience gained, the country has decided to launch a new course for agricultural planning and development. Partial or project approach either for crops or non crop activities has its limitations since agriculture is a system by itself and its linkages with others should be adequately defined and built. A holistic view of agriculture spans over a number of interactive activities. A farming system approach is relevant and futuristic.
