Abstract

Addl. Secretary, Department of Irrigation, explained briefly the importance of the schemes, continuing as well as new, in regard to collection of hydrological data in various river basins and the water studies and stated that a large number (104 nos.) of interstate river disputes are under consideration in the Department of Irrigation. He added that long-term, comprehensive and accurate data helps in arriving, at a proper technologic evaluation in respect of the-inter-state river disputes. To meet the standards set up by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), more river gauge stations are required to be set up in various basins. In addition, the equipment and other facilities in respect of the existing stations are to be modernised.
