Draft Annual Plan 1980-81 Sikkim State

Abstract

The State of Sikkim has a total area of 7,299 sq. kms. out of which nearly 60 percent of the area is not habitable. The rest of the area is mainly agricultural including forests where more than 85 percent of the population subsist. The occupational pattern obviously requires priority attention to be paid to activities allied to agriculture. In the five year plan 1973-33, this aspect has been recognised and out of the total outlay of is 94 crores, the allocation for the agriculture and allied sector is 23.25 crores.
