Abstract
Jamaican bauxite contains both gibbsite and boehmite; Surinan bauxite contains only gibbsite; the so-called "European1 bauxite contains both types, but predominantly monohydrate and the Eastern Coast bauxites of India are primarily gibbsite, which provides the silver lining to their low alanine content.^ Australian bauxite is a mixture of gibbsite and boehmite (5-10%) with a high percentage of silica which is mostly non-reactive. In both Hungary and the USSR bauxite is classified according to its al union/silica ratio (the module M). In Hungary, for example, the following qualities are distinguished! First-grade bauxite (M is more than 10).
