Abstract

The Annual Plan for 1983-84, has been drawn up against the background of experience gained in the first ha'f oilhe Sixth Five Year Plan. the Annual Plan reflects the basic imperative before the economy, viz.,—to ensure growth witli stability. In designing the growth strategy, distributional considcralicns have been kept in view within the overall contraints facing the economy. Investment allocation in the Flan has been weighted heavily in the core sectors of irrigation and power with the objective of maximising the growth potential of the economy. An investment of Rs. 52 crores and Rs. 272 crores respectively has been made for these sectors in the plan. This reflects an increase of Rs. 12 crores and Rs. 52 crores respectively over tlic previous year’s allocation.
