Abstract

The State of Haryana came into existence on the 1st November, 1966. the State consists of only seven districts with a population of over a crore. the total area of the State is about 17,000 Sq. miles. 82% of its population is living in villages and is primarily dependent upon agriculture. the Fourth Plan of the State has been settled at Rs 225 crores. For the first year of the Plan viz., 1969-70, an outlay of Rs 34.46 crores was fixed which included central assistance of Rs 14.00 crores. For 1970-71, the plan of Rs 41.50 crores has been prepared. of this, 14.23 crores will be provided by Government of India by way of Central assistance and the remaining Rs 27.27 crores will be found out from Stale’s own resources. the outlay of Rs 41.50 crores for 1970-71 represented an increase of about Rs seven crores over the outlay for 1969-70.
