The Satellite Instruction Television Experiment (SITE) was initiated on 1st August, 1975 and was in operation for a period of full one year. Simultaneously, at the instance of the Planning Commission, it was decided to Carry out an evaluation study to assess the impact of the Experiment on the rural community covered under the Programme. The PEO's evaluation study, therefore, commenced in July 1975 and was carried out in three phases, viz., (i) Bench-Mark Survey (BMS), during July 1975, (ii) Concurrent Observation running in three rounds from August 1975 to July 1976, and (iii) Repeat Survey from August 1976 to November 1976. As the SITE programme covered only six States, the evaluation study also was limited to the selected districts of these six States. The following three papers were prepared and circulated to the Planning Commission.
