dc.description.abstractPaddy constitutes the main food crop in the State and all the schemes under the Agricultural sector in the First Plan were designed to step up rice production with a view to meet the shortage of foodgrains prevailing in the country at the beginning of the First Plan period. the development schemes in the Second Plan included under this sector not only aim at production of more paddy but also development of commercial crops besides research and publicity.
