dc.description.abstractThe basic design was a stratified two-stage one with villages as first-stage units and households as second-stage units. the list of 1971 census villages was used as the sampling frame for the selection of sample villages. A total of 8472 sample villages was selected for survey; out of which 8461 villages were actually surveyed and the remaining 11 samples became casualty. the sample villages were drawn in the form of two independent sub-samples to keep provision for calculation of errors and four independent sub-rounds to get proper seasonal representation of the data collected during the year.
