Abstract

The document on the Application of Line of Balance (LOB) Technology examines the relevance of this advanced planning and control technique in managing large-scale construction and infrastructure projects within India’s Five-Year Plans. Originating from the U.S. Navy, the LOB method integrates objectives, production programs, and progress monitoring into a unified graphical framework that enables precise coordination of time, resources, and capital. Through case studies involving prefabricated buildings, grain storage structures, bridges, and sewerage schemes, the report demonstrates how LOB facilitates early detection of delays, balanced investment in materials, and improved cross-functional coordination. The study concludes that systematic adoption of Line of Balance technology can significantly enhance efficiency, accountability, and financial discipline in project planning and execution.
