Abstract

The Group is of the view that these projections are too conservative. The Indian economy is transforming itself from the commodity based economy to a manufacture based economy. Since manufactured goods are better suited for air transportation, the growth in air cargo is likely to be at a higher rate. Also, till now, air cargo has not attracted adequate attention for promotion and till very recently was treated as a by-product of the passenger traffic. This situation has changed and air cargo is emerging as an independent and fast growing component for air traffic. The Group, therefore, is of the view that air freight will grow at a faster rate at around 10% per annum.
