Abstract

The Original contract for construction of the main dam and its appurtenant works had been cancelled in March, 1987. M/S NPCC have been engaged as the new contractor for the remaining works of the dam in Sept ’ 87.Due to delay in mobilisation of plant and machineries and the requisite key man power by NPCC the commencement of construction of coffer dam and the main dam has been delayed. The early onset of monsoon and devastating floods in 1988 caused extensive damages to the dam site and coffer dam, which was 90% complete.
