dc.description.abstractIn accordance with the usual procedure, the Planning Commission sent out their instructions for the preparation of the Annual Plan for 1958-59 in the end of September, 1957, and advised, inter alia, that the size of the Plan for 1958-59 should not exceed the outlay for 1957-58, viz., Rs 34.75 crores approved by the Planning Commission in January, 1957 (excluding Rs 0.51 crore for Harike Project and Rs 1.15 crores subsequently provided for conversion of handlooms into power-looms). The departments concerned were instructed accordingly. The Integrated Annual Plan, on the basis of the detailed estimates prepared by the Departments and tentatively accepted by the State Government worked out to Rs 43.38 crores, excluding :— (i) Rs 0.90 crore for Harike Project ; (ii) Rs 4.32 crores for Provincialisation of Local Body Schools ; (iii) Rs 1.50 crores for Introduction of Free Education : and (iv) Rs 0.08 crore for taking over Education Institutions at Faridabad and Rajpura. The draft Annual Plan for the State was submitted to the Planning Commission accordingly in the beginning of December, 1957.
