Draft Sixth Five Year Plan (1978-83) Community Development and Rural Works Programme Government of Manipur

Abstract

The community Development Block was introduced in The year 1952-53. During the 1st Five year Plan 2(two) community Development Blocks have been opened. During 2nd Plan Period 8 additional Blocks were avoided up and another 4 Operant Blocks were opened curing 3rd Plan. Thus at the end” of 3rd Plan period, the entire territory has been covered under the Programme. During the 4th Plan periods, the 8 Community Development Blocks in the Hills have been spited up into 20 T.D. Blocks/ Administrative Units. Thus the Programme was implemented in 26 Development Blocks which is inclusive of 12 Administrative units with an outlay of Fs. 32.00 lakhs. There was no proposal received for opening new Blocks during the 5th Plan period.
