dc.description.abstractThe Planning Commission was reconstituted in April, 1980 under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister with Dr. M. S. Swaminathan as acting Deputy Chairman, Shri Mohd. Fazal as Member and Dr. Manmohan Singh as Member-Secretary. Subsequently, in June, 1980 Shri Narayan Datt Tiwari was appointed as Minister of Planning and Deputy Chairman. The present composition of the Commission is as follows :- Smt. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister Chairman Shri Narayan Datt Tiwari Deputy Chairman Shri R. Venkataraman' Member Minister of Finance Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Member Shri Mohd. Fazal Member Dr. Manmohan Singh Member-Secretary Shri S. S. Puri, Secretary, Planning Commission took oyer as Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation with effect from 5th April, 1980.
