dc.description.abstractThe macro-economy performed reasonably well in the Eighth Five Year Plan (1992-97). The average growth rate that is likely to be achieved in the Eighth Plan in terms of GDP at market prices is 6.8 percent as compared to the target of 5.6 percent. All the three broad sectors, namely, agriculture, industry and services performed well and even surpassed the expectations.
