Abstract

Bihar is the second largest State of India by size of population. In 1971, the population was 56.33 millions which constitutes 10.3 per cent of the total population of India. the State has an area of 1.74 lakh sq. km. and the density of population works out to 324 persons per sq. km. against 182 for all-India.
