Draft Five-Year Plan 1980-85 Tamil Nadu

Abstract

Planning for the development of Tamil Nadu in the last three decades has resulted in some noteworthy achievements Since 1960-61 state income has increased by 58% at constant prices and foodgrains production by 40 percent in physical terms; industrial income increased by more than 6 1/2 times. Output of electric power in million units increased from 632 in 1950-51 to 9543 in 1980-81, a fifteen—fold increase. These are achievements which undoubtedly have added to the material wellbeing of the people.
