dc.description.abstractThe North Eastern Region comprises of the seven States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. It covers an area of 255,000 Sq. kms representing around 7.7 per cent of total geographic area of the country. It is a distinct geographical unit connected with the rest of the country through a narrow corridor in North Bengal. the 98 per cent of its borders are with other countries Bhutan and China in the North, Myanmar in the east and Bangladesh in the south and west.
