Abstract

The total geographic area of the State is placed as 0.42 lac Sq.Kms, of which Jammu division extends over 0.26 lac sq.Kms, The total cattle population is 22.13 lac, out of which 12.00 lac are located in Jammu division. Against 5.5 lac of buffaloes in the entire states 5.23 lac located in Jammu division. The total cross bred population in the State has been enumerated at 1.61 lac. There are about 1050 Animal Husbandry institutions in the State, out of which 506 ere dispersed in the Jammu division2
