Abstract

Situated in the North Eastern Corner of India, Manipur has a total area of 22, 356 sq.km. and its population as per 1971 Census is 10,72,753, 20% of the total geographical area is valley with approximately 75% of the population inhabiting it. Administratively the State comprises of six Districts and 25 Block/Sub-divisional Head Quarters and six autonomous Hill District Councils and 28 Notified Areas.
