Abstract

For reasons which have been stated in the preface, the PEO decided to take up this year a few examples of the more successful cooperative societies and panchayats. With this object in mind, the Union Ministry and the State Governments were approached and with their help four each of nearly the best cooperatives and panchayats in the country were selected. As those numbers wore rather small even for case study in a country where conditions vary widely from region to region, the PEO decided to add to them six of the best institutions of each category found in the blocks where. its other studies were being conducted.
