Abstract

To understand the significance of the detailed conclusions and recommendations which appear at the end of this Summary, it is necessary to appreciate, firstly, the nature of the Indian food-problem : secondly, the main principles which underlie the Report as a whole. The Report covers a very wide field, and in order that it may have practical usefulness, the recommendations and conclusions which it contains arc necessarily numerous. But the basic principles can be stated in very few words.
