Report of Working Group on Demand and Supply Projections of Agricultural Commodities and Improvement of Agricultural Statistics for the formulation of Ninth Five Year Plan

Abstract

The Sub-Group on Demand Projections for Agricultural Commodities was set up to work out for requirements of food grains, sugarcane, cotton, oilseeds and jute. The Sub-Group was basically required to work out the base level demand of principal crops and project demand for the terminal year of the Ninth Plan for the purpose of working out physical targets of agricultural production. The Task Force held three meetings and deliberated on various aspects of demand projections and factors and parameters affecting demand.
