Draft Sixth Five Year Plan 1980-85 and Draft Annual Plan 1981-82 Volume VII Hill Areas

Abstract

During the plan period from 1974-75 to 8109,79- and amount of Rs.299.00 lakhs was allotted under the state Plan component of Agricultural Sector. Against this allotted funds, expenditure amounted to Rs,284.49 lakhs. The table at the end of this note indicates the trend of production at the end of 1978-79 from the level of 1974-75. The Sixth Five Plan for the Hill areas of Assam under Agricultural sector aims at increasing the level of production,rate of productivity under different crops ensuring supply of agricultural inputs according to the demands of the Farmers, strengthening of organisational set-up at the apex level, district level as well as field level for implementation of the schemes suggested under the sixth Five Year Plan. Past experience reveals that there are particular areas of gaps in extension services. These gaps are being identified and steps are under way to fill these up, as expeditiously as possible, by recruiting personnel for different activities.
