dc.description.abstractThe creation of a separate Ministry of Irrigation and Power was announced on the 13th Alay, 1952. Separation of the work and personnel from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Scientific Research took sometime and this Ministry began to function as a separate entity from the 1st August, 1952. Functions. The Ministry is mainly responsible for the development of irrigation and power. A detailed list of the subjects dealt with is given below :— Centrally-financed multipurpose river valley projects. Regulation and development of interstate rivers and river-valleys. Disputes relating to distribution and utilization of water for irrigation and power.
