Abstract

The Coordinated Study on Natural Resources Surveys examines the systematic assessment and management of India’s natural resources through integrated surveys. Initiated by the Planning Commission in 1961, the study emphasizes reducing redundancy across multiple survey organizations, enhancing training and equipment, and adopting modern techniques such as aerial photography. It highlights the importance of geological mapping for mineral investigations, coalfield assessments, and urban planning, particularly in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta. The report recommends establishing a unified survey network, strengthening cadastral surveys, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration for comprehensive planning.
