dc.description.abstractThe Union Territory of Delhi has an area of 1485 sq. Kms, of which 1039 sq. kms. is Rural and 446 sq. kms. urban. The. Urban area, which is 30% of the total area, accommodates 92.73% of the population, making population density in the Urban area considerably higher than in rural areas. The overall population density in Delhi at 4194 persons per sq. km. (1981 census) was the highest in the country.
