The Cil-age-was ushered in only on 27th of August, 1959 when the first oil well was drilled by a retired American Railroad conductor, Edwin L. Drake, in Titusville, Pennsylvania, U.S.A at first, mineral oil was prized mainly for kerosene which was used as an illuminant but gradually with the coming of the internal combustion engine and the advancement of scientific knowledge and of industries, petroleum fuels assumed increasing importance in the fabric of modern life. | |
