Draft Annual Plan Part 1 Plan in Outline Summary of Sectoral Outlays and Statistical Statements

Abstract

The draft Annual Flan 1989-90 has been formulated within the framework of objectives, policies and programmes indicated in the Seventh Plan. The year 1989-90 being the last year of the Seventh Five Plan period (1985-90) priority has been given to the completion of the ongoing projects which are in an advanced stage of construction as wall as to those which can be completed quickly. Emphasis has been laid on improving productivity and efficiency through better utilisation of capacity created and greater efficiency in the use of resources. The Plan while seeking growth with social justice also lays emphasis on beneficiary oriented and anti-poverty programmes with a view to creating employment opportunities and generating incomes for the weaker sections of the society.
